SOCIAL EMOTIONAL HEALTH

Why is it so important?

Encouraging positive social and emotional health is considered the best foundation for mental, emotional and physical wellness!  Children who develop social and emotional skills and regulation when they are young are better prepared to be self-confident, trusting, empathic and communicative adults!  Also, they are more capable of relating well to others and developing healthy and strong relationships.


Research studies show us that social connections are vital to our emotional health. The aspects and quality of social relationships affects mental health and physical health.  When we are feeling positive emotions about our social support group, we produce healthy chemicals in our brains and positively effect our bodies!  The same is true for strained relationships, such as conflict and stress. This will effect our brain and body negatively.  Knowing this, be a positive social emotional support for others and expect the same for yourself!
